Heavy-Duty Lowbed Trailers for Over-Size Loads

EQP AXIS provides lowbed trailer transport and rental across Dubai and all seven Emirates, for net cargo weights up to 150 tons. A low bed trailer sits its deck far closer to the road than a standard trailer, which is what keeps a tall machine inside legal travel height once it is loaded. It is the difference between a move that gets a permit and one that does not.

The same trailer type is known internationally as a low loader, a lowboy, or a semi low-bed trailer. Whichever term you use, the requirement is the same: a deck low enough and strong enough for machinery that a flatbed cannot legally or safely carry.

One clarification on the word rental. Our lowbed trailer rental is trip-based and always includes our prime mover and our driver. We do not lease bare trailers. Loading, lashing, route compliance, and delivery stay under our control for the whole job — which is also why we can commit to the specifications published on this page.

Our Lowbed Trailer Fleet — Published Specifications

Most transport companies describe their trailers in adjectives. Below are the actual figures for the units that will arrive on your site, so you can check suitability before you call.

150-Ton 6-Axle Lowbed Trailer

Our heaviest unit, built by Al Jaber in the UAE. It runs as a four-axle trailer for loads up to 130 tons net, and takes a two-axle extension when the cargo goes beyond that — up to a legally authorised 150 tons net, excluding the weight of truck and trailer.

100-Ton 4-Axle Lowbed Trailers

Built by Al Jaber and Load King, these are the workhorses for excavators, loaders, and dozers. The 40 cm ground clearance is the number that matters most here — it is what keeps a tall tracked machine under the legal height limit once it is sitting on the deck.

Volvo FH Prime Movers (2022+)

A trailer rating means nothing without a truck that can pull it. Our prime movers are 2022 and newer Volvo FH units on heavy-duty spring suspension with reinforced axles, matched to the load rather than assigned at random. Each is rated to tow a hydraulic gooseneck lowbed semi-trailer at its stated capacity.

What We Move on Lowbed Trailers

Caterpillar excavator loaded on an EQP AXIS lowbed trailer in Dubai

Excavators & Bulldozers

Tracked machines load under their own power up the rear ramps, then get chained down at the machine’s own lashing points before anything moves. Most 30 to 70 ton excavators travel on the 4-axle unit; larger dozers move to the 6-axle.

Crawler crane body being transported on a multi-axle lowbed trailer

Cranes & Piling Rigs

Crawler crane bodies, boom sections, and counterweights usually travel as a coordinated multi-vehicle move. We sequence the loads so the crane can be rebuilt on site in the right order rather than arriving as a pile of parts.

Heavy industrial unit secured on a lowbed trailer deck for transport in the UAE

Transformers & Generators

Dense, high-value units where the weight sits in a small footprint. These need calculated load placement over the axle groups rather than centre-of-deck positioning, and slower transit speeds through built-up areas.

Oversized industrial cargo lashed to an EQP AXIS lowbed trailer

Industrial Machines & Vessels

Pressure vessels, tanks, presses, and plant equipment moving between ports, fabrication yards, and industrial sites. Out-of-gauge dimensions are handled with side extenders and a route survey before the trailer is dispatched.

Steel structural sections loaded for transport on a lowbed trailer in Dubai

Steel Structures & Precast

Long steel sections, beams, and precast concrete elements where length rather than weight drives the trailer choice. The 18.7 m deck handles most structural runs without a rear overhang permit.

Tracked & Wheeled Plant

Rollers, pavers, wheel loaders, and reach stackers moving between projects. For fleet relocations we run several trailers in sequence so the site is mobilised in one window rather than across several days.

How Many Axles Does Your Load Need?

Axle configuration by net cargo weight
Net Cargo WeightTrailer Configuration
Up to 100 tons4-axle lowbed
100–130 tons6-axle lowbed, fixed axles
130–150 tons6-axle lowbed + 2-axle extension

Axle count is not about total strength — it is about how the load is spread. UAE road regulations limit how much weight may pass through any single axle onto the road surface, so a 130 ton machine on four axles can be illegal while the same machine on six is compliant. Adding axles divides the same mass across more contact points and brings each one back inside the limit.

This is also why the position of the cargo on the deck matters as much as its weight. A dense, compact load concentrated over one axle group can breach the limit even when the total is well within the trailer rating. We calculate placement before the trailer leaves our yard, which is part of why we ask for dimensions and not just tonnage.

Lowbed Transport Across Dubai, Jebel Ali & All UAE

We run lowbed moves throughout Dubai and into every emirate. The routes we cover most often are Jebel Ali Port and JAFZA, Dubai Industrial City, Dubai Investments Park, and Al Quoz; into Abu Dhabi for Musaffah, ICAD, and KEZAD; and across the northern emirates including the Sharjah industrial areas and Hamriyah Free Zone.

Port collections are the most time-sensitive work we do. A machine sitting at Jebel Ali past its free period costs money every day, so we plan those moves around the release rather than around our own schedule.

Cross-border movements to Oman and Saudi Arabia are also part of our regular work, with the customs and permit paperwork handled in-house rather than passed to a third party.

Permits, Escorts & Route Checks for Lowbed Moves

Once a load passes the standard legal envelope for width, height, length, or weight, it needs authorisation before it can move. EQP AXIS arranges RTA and police permits in-house, along with escort vehicles and convoy coordination where the dimensions require them.

Before any oversize move we run a route check for height and bridge clearance. A route that works for a flatbed can be impassable for a lowbed carrying a tall machine, and the place to discover that is on a plan, not at three in the morning under a low bridge with a police escort waiting.

Permit lead time varies with the emirate and the dimensions involved. Send your figures early and we will tell you what the move needs before you commit to a date.

Have a permit-sensitive move coming up?

Send the dimensions and route and we will confirm what authorisations are required and how long they take — before you schedule the lift.

Lowbed Trailer Transport FAQs

What is the maximum weight your lowbed trailers can carry?

Our 6-axle lowbed trailer is legally authorised to carry up to 150 tons net cargo weight with the 2-axle extension fitted, and 130 tons net on the four fixed axles alone. Our 4-axle lowbed trailers carry up to 100 tons net. All figures are net cargo weight, excluding the truck and trailer themselves.

How much does lowbed trailer transport cost in Dubai?

Pricing depends on five factors: distance, cargo weight, overall dimensions, whether RTA permits are required, and whether a police escort or convoy is needed. Send your load details on WhatsApp and you will get a quote the same day — it is the fastest channel we operate.

Should I use a lowbed or a flatbed trailer?

Use a lowbed when the load is tall, tracked, or too heavy for a standard trailer. The 40 cm deck height keeps total travel height legal for machines that would exceed the limit on a flatbed. Use a flatbed for containers, steel, pipes, and wheeled cargo under roughly 40 tons that has no height problem.

What are the deck dimensions and ground clearance?

The 4-axle lowbed measures 18.7 m overall with a 7.5 m main deck, 3.5 m full width, and 40 cm ground clearance. The 6-axle lowbed is 18.7 m long and 3.5 m wide. Main deck length excludes the gooseneck and the rear axle platform.

Do you rent lowbed trailers without a driver?

No. Every lowbed hire is trip-based and always includes our prime mover and our driver. We do not lease bare trailers. This keeps loading, lashing, and route compliance under our control from collection to delivery.

Do you arrange RTA permits and police escorts?

Yes, in-house. We handle RTA and police permit applications, escort and convoy arrangements, and height and bridge-clearance route checks before the move. Cross-border paperwork for Oman and Saudi Arabia is also handled in-house.

Can you move a machine the same day?

We respond to every enquiry the same day, and WhatsApp is the fastest route to a dispatcher. Actual mobilisation time depends on trailer availability and whether the load needs a permit or escort, which we will confirm when we see the dimensions and weight.

Cargo with no height problem?

Containers, steel, and boxed machinery that can be craned or rolled on travel faster and cheaper on a flat deck.
